arriving
at the general tarleton on a cold and windy night, the pleasant greeting
of the roaring log fire in the hearth was only surpassed by
the warmth of the welcome. this place may be the little sister of the
angel inn at hetton, but it certainly displays no intention of living
in
its elder
siblings shadow; this is a fantastic dining experience in its own
right.
there
are a choice of dining options here; the casual setting of the
rural-style bar, the
continental-style indoor courtyard
or the comfortable, conservatively
decorated dining room, where the maitre’d and his polite
staff offer slick, friendly service. wherever
you choose to eat, the succinct,
well-balanced menu offers a tempting variety of styles and
flavours and there are always a number of dishes prepared
using local
produce, carefully selected by the talented chef and
his team the
knowledgeable staff are attentive without giving you the feeling
of being rushed and are happy to assist you in choosing
the right bottle from the excellent wine list to accompany your meal.
